I took notice that I have PEI on glass for my Ender 3. I have purchased a 12" x 12" sheet of PEI for my Hictop and have been fretting about trying to use the 3M adhesive to fasten the PEI to the aluminum bed. It suddenly dawned on me that I have glass and a cutter. I will cut the glass to 220 x 275 mm and then fasten the PEI to the glass!! I can then fasten the glass to the aluminum bed with clips!! This solves my issue of being able to adjust the bed screws if I had fastened the PEI directly to the aluminum. I originally was going to fasten the PEI to the aluminum to make the proximity sensor work, but I just got a BLTouch and that negates all the worry.
I know I sound excited, but I have been really chewing on this whole issue for almost a week. Sometimes rum can lubricate the mind.

Glass - cut. PEI sheet - cut. Time to adhere the PEI to the bed with 3M adhesive.
I cannot tell you how much this idea made me happy tonight. I even used the scrap PEI to use with my 3D pen!

I enjoy Meyers quite a bit. I may or may not have made my own, but I wouldn't say that here. I got the print bed finished. I applied the 3M adhesive and I had a couple of ripple in one corner. I figured that would mess up my surface, so I carefully trimmed that corner, removed the adhesive I messed up, and patched in a new corner of adhesive. I rolled the PEI on to the glass with a Dynamat roller and sent it for a gentle heating on the build plate for a little. It just makes the whole print bed seem more stout. It's fastened with binder clips. Now, I have to install the BLTouch to be able to print on that surface.

For the record - this PEI bed is even better than my Ender 3. I haven't had a thing come off the bed when the Z-Height is dialed. I'm considering duplicating this new PEI sheet on the Ender glass.
