Hello on this Forum You can call me Clif
I purchased my 1st 3D Printer a Hictop 3DP11 from E-Bay for my birthday 2016.
As I know that sometime parts are not included with purchases from E-Bay, I did many many search on you-tube trying to find that one 3D Printer in my budget.
This 3D Printer needed to have enough information available so I could assemble it without the need for more outside help.
Then I found this Hictop 3DP11 for a price that I could afford and enough available information that I believed I could make it function.
Receiving the 3D Printer I assembled in a few hours and began testing but could not get a print to stick.
Watching all related video's it took me 2 days to find that the Extruder motor stepper was traveling in the reverse direction.
Quickly rewiring the Stepper motor cable connector, I printed my first 3D Model.
This introduction will show that as an electronics Technician for 25 years I can resolve hardware problems, an as a Computer Programmer for 15 years programming is second nature.
This combination gives me the ability to diagnose most problems and repair using hardware and software.
Liking this 3D Printer so much when I seen another the owner could not assemble I jumped at the price. This is how I came up with the Twins.
Blu (3DP12 24Volt) and Red (3DP11 12volt)
When I stated out with my 3D Printer, was stuck with the firmware included with the 3D Printer.
After quite some I found my 1st 3D Printer forum, an ran across a post that claimed to have a Firmware for my 3D Printer.
Being skeptical decided to purchase a spare Controller board that I could practice flashing with this Firmware.
I found that it worked so well that I dove in to learn as much as possible about Marlin firmware.
So Happy with the results decided to help those I could on the forum get there 3D Printers Printing at top efficiency.
It was not long before I had helped many with the same 3D Printers, and then chose to continue updating the firmware.
And with every version of firmware configured and tested, if it did not work reloaded the previous version posting my results.
Was told by many that Marlin 2 was not for the older 8bit controllers though I have never seen any problems.
I do have to watch how many features added as memory is limited, so will soon be forced to upgrade my controllers.
This will happen only if certain things occur, like my controller and all spares die. or the benefits outweighs the cost.
I can always sell the controllers to others who need a spare controller, if the benefits are overwhelming.
Though Have been told by many that cannot believe how well my old 3D Printers function.
