I'm trying to update my cr10s to Marlin 2.whatever and from all the videos I've watched I believe I'm doing this correctly but I can't compile with the chosen board I was instructed to use.
-V2.2 main board cr10s -Arduino IDE -Marlin 2.0.7.2
Was told to use the Mega 2560 board and processor.
I think I'm good to go here otherwise. I made changes to what I needed in the files, I just need to test compile and plug my printer in to update.

Can you post the Configuration.h and Configuration_adv.h files.
An if you have the Source from the original marlin firmware this could come in handy. My only question would be where did you download the firmware you are trying to compile for your CR10's

I have Complied this many times using Arduino getting the many errors including error Path too long. Switched to Visual Studio Code > PlatformIO > Auto Build Marlin below
I found another CR10 Firmware Below
I am going to try to merge the configuration files into this working version
The configuration files that compiled for CR10s Marlin 2.0.7 I found are located Here
Setting Up Visual Studio Code > PlatfornIO > Auto Build Marlin is located Here

when I had my ender 3 pro, I had some difficulty with vanilla marlin as well. I found cheetah 5.0 version of marlin to be much easier. you may want to take a look at that.
you also want to be certain of which board you have.

Ok I'm not gonna lie to you... All this is above my pay grade. I'm just going to list in order what I got going on here.. So the links you sent me download the files as .txt files. I don't know what to do with them. I'm watching this guy on YouTube I have Visual Studio Code and plugins up and running autobuild works I think I did a test compile and it's a success. So I think I'm doing this right but now I plug the printer in to my pc and get nothing... I have a powered hub so it lights up when you plug something into it and I'm getting nothing. This guy in the video has links to drivers but all that does is take me to a zip, (second link in his discription) I have no idea what to do with and yet another useless youtube video that tells me nothing on what to do with the zipped files. So here is the zipped folder.. and here is the long list of serial bus controllers I have.. from here I am at a loss..

I grab the Hex file located on my computer D: Drive D:\Marlin-2.0.7\.pio\build\mega2560\firmware.hex In the Marlin folder you would look in .pio\build\mega2560 directory for your hex file. Or you click on the upload an upload directly to the controller board.
I will ask a CR10 Friend.

No worries man, I think I'm going to just remove this BLTouch sensor tonight and and go back to stock. This is WAY too complicated with no straight answer guides and far too many ways to get lost. I just want a level bed not a degree in C++. I haven't printed in days now, It's time to get back to basics.
Maybe someday we can setup a teamspeak and try to figure this out remotely or something. I don't think my nerd level is high enough for this lol.
Thanks for the help tho, I very much appreciate it!

you're almost there...from your screenshots you got it compiled, so now it's just getting it to your board...
are you using an arduino ide board to upload, do you have a bootloader built in, are you using the little usbisp that may have come with the bltouch?
I've personally used the second 2 options and can help with that

It's got its own bootloader. I'm suppose to just plug it in to the PC and and upload. The USB drivers I got are a decent size Zip folder and I cant update drivers form the root of the Universal Serial Bus tree in Device Manager I have like 15 USB options under the root so i don't know what I'm suppose so do with the Zip drivers folder. I did still mess around with it last night and and got nowhere and now for what ever reason the compiler is failing for some reason regardless of what file i try to compile. The only time it succeeded was when I took the screenshot for the previous post. I didn't even change anything (i.e.) BAUDRATE, BLTouch enable, ect. I haven't gave up yet, but I'm about to. Again I haven't printed in days now, This is totally more trouble than its worth. I'm looking at a big paper weight. I completely dissembled the printer, reassembled it and picked up some concrete pavers to put under it, leveled the table, pavers, and printer, and got a new borosilicate glass build plate. It's much more sturdy and level now than before, so needless to say I want to get back to printing
I attached the files I'm working with, again I have no idea why it compiled once and now it it fails with a HUGE window of errors.. I'm only opening the config.h I'm not opening the other 3 files, aka bootscreen, advanced, ect.
Attachments:Configuration.h (89.9 KB)
Configuration.h (88.09 KB)

Lets got on the same page to where you are at, You added a BL-Touch though you have not as of this date flashed any firmware. This means that if you replaced the BL-Tough with the original your 3D Printer would still function correctly.
An the controller below is the controller that is on the 3D Printer. CR-10 V3 3D Printer CR-10 S5 3D Printer CR-10 V2 3D Printer Creality has the Firmware located here post information on how you connected BLtouch and which version of firmware currently have. Please choose your version from Creality Downloads

Correct. I just wired the sensor in. I haven't bricked anything yet lol. Yes, that looks like the board I have, V2.2 I know all the models are super confusing... It took me a while to understand them too i.e. the CR-10 S5 is not the CR-10S. So I take it this is Creality factory firmware with added sensor support and not Marlin firmware correct?
