I guess that I am going to go ahead and install the BLTouch tonight. The bed is done and the mounts are printed. There is nothing else more I can procrastinate about. Wish me luck. Let's go find the Cliff firmware! TO infinity and beyond.

I didn't finish last night. I did get some of the important stuff done though.
I got the old sensor out and the new sensor wire-loomed in. Sensor mount installed and adjusted. Sensor installed to the mount. Figured out the +5/G/Sig wiring on the Z-min and Z-max pins. Figured out that I had to remove and re-arrange the pins on the BLTouch. Found the files and printed an 8.5mm block for BL alignment. For the close of the evening, I got the BLTouch wired to the pins and it did a self-test with a surprising lack of blue smoke. Although, there were a couple of times when I inverted the pins and the board just wouldn't boot. (tired tech talk.)
Tonight I will work on firmware, tweaking and getting everything to work.

I flashed your purple config after making a few tweaks. Good news - The BLTouch is passing all of the testing and operates like it should. The BAD news is - My "Y" axis seems to have flipped out. It only moves forward a couple of millimeters for any request. Never homes back to the end stop. Stand by.
The problem was the #define Y_MIN_ENDSTOP_INVERTING true // set to true to invert the logic of the endstop.
It had gotten set to "false"
I am now heating the hot end to try and print a cube after a 12 or 15 point bed leveling without breaking the BLTouch probe!
I also tightened the belt that was identified from a picture by Clif. Nice spotting.
I won't be measuring the cube, as my worktop was wiggling while the print was going on.
So far, the machine seems quite fast. I am probably done for the night. It's 2am ET.

You found out that sometimes similar 3D Printers could have different configurations. This is very good learning experience, you have most of it figured out. Hope your sample print goes as smoothly.

What was the Purple config initially for? It works a treat really. I'm shocked beyond imagination. Of course I couldn't go to sleep without setting something else to print because I am a glutton for punishment. SO I printed one of these:
It, again, shocked me. It actually rolled, but stiff in the center. See that thread for details. I am running the print again with better settings and I moved the printer back to the proper, sturdy area.
I have done nothing what so ever to the firmware after getting it to work the BLTouch properly. One of the main things I had to change to get your version working was to change the LCD to a graphics reprap smart display as I am using my original Ender 3 screen for the Hicktop. I'm pretty dang happy right now. I don't think this thing has printed this well - ever. I can't imagine what it will do with a little more tweaking.
I think the accelerations are still at 3000 which does give some FIRM but not violent direction changes. It also causes a vibration in the new base plate that I installed centering around the Y carriage belt block. I'm going to reprint an upgrade to that part and redo the bed fastening. I am also printing 4 bed adjustment knobs for the Hictop. I looked in the empire of junk and found a spare set of yellow upgrade springs for the Ender 3, so I plan to replace the puny springs that came with this machine.
I also have to use the phillips screws in the bed to adjust the bed by hand. The way I will be installing the bed screws, they will be completely captive and only able to be adjusted with the thumb screws as it should be. The new mounting will be loctite red on the screw heads, then nuts directly beneath the bed tight to the bed. Then the springs on the screws and the thumb wheels for the win. Of course, that means I am going to have to re-level the bad manually first, but I half-assed it the first time and it's pretty dang good.
I really have to look at your BLTouch settings. It's probing terribly slow, only once and it's using 15 points or something. I just stored the first settings and recall it in G-Code. I have only leveled it once so far. I saw a video of how to speed up the probing times and still get a double probe at each point. I'll get there, I promise!

That came out great, congrats on getting everything sorted quickly, and enjoy. Well, the first one came out fine, But I set a second one to print and the "Y" axis lost some steps in the violence of the print and shifted some layers.
It's time I go tweak the firmware before printing anything else. I am also going to rebuild the bed the way I want it. Hopefully I will get rid of the grinding.
Does anyone know if I can tweak the voltage settings on these stepper drivers. I honestly think I am losing steps.

When you finish tweaking the firmware I would really like to see your tweaks.

You will be the first one to see it for sure! The only changes that I have made to your Purple is the BLTouch, and the LCD screen. I modified the pins.RAMPS.h too to change SERVO0 to 19. The printer needs to be moved for firmware upgrades, so I will do that after the hardware is solid.
I will try to annotate my changes when I make them as you do. I'm also going to grab Marlin 2.x.x for funzies.
I hope your well!

My 3D Printer firmware was Originally coded by Chip Luck was Marlin 1.1.0 RC6
I have made very few changes from stock firmware other than Chip's basic configurations to all My marlin versions. I Use WinMerge This program allows me to load working previous version firmware and copy lines to the newer version firmware

This Winmerge - I need to learn how to use it. I'm assuming it takes all of the eye strain off of comparing two config files??

Winmerge is as simple as using a notepad. It allows me to swap configuration from a lower version of Marlin firmware in a couple minutes rather than an hour.
The newest Winmerge has a three way view so one could load three Marlin version then select what you want in your final Version update. This could get confusing until one gets proficient with firmware configurations.
